Fit, spring placement, shipping, returns, and what to do if StepSpring does not feel right.
The product
Does StepSpring come as one support or a pair?
A pair. Every order includes two StepSpring knee supports. Wear one if only one knee needs backup, or wear both if both knees need support.
What is StepSpring made for?
It is built for everyday movements that put pressure on your knees: stairs, curbs, low chairs, couches, car exits, errands, chores, and standing back up. It is meant to feel more structured than a basic compression sleeve without being as bulky as a rigid hinged brace.
Where do the springs sit?
The spring hardware sits behind the knee. The front stays open around the kneecap, so the brace is not pressing directly over the kneecap while you bend, sit, or stand.
Is it just compression?
No. StepSpring has a sleeve-style body, adjustable straps, and rear spring hardware. The fabric helps it sit securely, the straps let you tune the tightness, and the spring hardware adds structure behind the knee.
What is StepSpring not for?
It is not medical care, a diagnosis, or a replacement for a brace prescribed by a healthcare professional. Do not use it as your only support after a serious injury, surgery, instability, swelling, or persistent pain. If you are unsure, ask a qualified healthcare provider before using it.
Can I wear it under pants?
Usually, yes, under looser pants. Under tight jeans or leggings, the straps and rear spring hardware may show or feel bulky. For the cleanest fit, wear it directly on the leg or over a thin layer, then adjust the straps while seated.
Can I sleep in it?
No. StepSpring is for active daytime use. Do not sleep in it, and do not keep wearing it if you feel numbness, tingling, coldness, pinching, sharp pressure, or worsening discomfort.
Fit and sizing
How do I know if it will fit?
StepSpring is currently one adjustable size. It is designed for most adult knees in these rough measurement ranges: mid-thigh about 38-56 cm / 15-22 inches, measured 10 cm / 4 inches above the kneecap, and mid-calf about 30-44 cm / 12-17 inches, measured 10 cm / 4 inches below the kneecap.
If you are far outside either range, email info@stepspring.co with your measurements before ordering and we will tell you honestly whether it is likely to work.
How should it feel when it is on?
Secure and supportive, not painful. You should be able to bend the knee, walk a few steps, and sit down without pinching. If it cuts into your leg, leaves strong pressure marks quickly, or changes how your foot feels, loosen it or take it off.
How do I put it on correctly?
Sit down first, open the straps, place the open front around the kneecap, line the spring hardware behind the knee, then tighten the straps until the support feels snug but comfortable. Stand, bend once, and walk a few steps. Readjust if anything rubs or slips.

What if it slips down?
Put it on while seated and make sure the open front is centered around the kneecap. Tighten the top and bottom straps gradually instead of cranking one strap all the way. If it still slips, your leg may be outside the best fit range or the brace may be sitting too low.
What if it pinches behind the knee?
Loosen the straps and check that the spring hardware is sitting behind the knee, not twisted to the side. If pinching continues after adjustment, stop using it and contact us. Do not try to break it in through pain.
Use and care
How long should I wear it the first time?
Start with a short test at home, about 30-60 minutes, so you can check the fit before wearing it out. If it feels comfortable, use it for the moments you bought it for: stairs, errands, getting in and out of the car, low chairs, and longer days on your feet.
Can I use it for workouts?
StepSpring is designed for daily support, not intense training, sports, or rehab programming. If you want support during workouts, injury recovery, or physical therapy, ask your healthcare provider what type of brace is appropriate.
How do I clean it?
Spot clean or hand wash gently with cold water and mild soap, then air dry fully before wearing again. Do not bleach, iron, tumble dry, or soak the spring hardware for long periods.
Shipping
How much is shipping?
United States standard insured shipping is free on every order. United States express insured shipping is $15 when available at checkout. International standard insured shipping is $11.99 on orders under $70. Orders over $70 get free standard insured shipping.
The 2-pair and 3-pair bundles qualify for free standard insured shipping based on the current product price.
When will my order ship?
Orders are processed within 2-3 business days before shipping. Once your order ships, you will receive tracking by email.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes, to the international destinations available at checkout. Duties, taxes, customs charges, and import fees are the recipient's responsibility unless checkout says otherwise.
Can I change my shipping address?
Email info@stepspring.co immediately with your order number and the correct address. We can usually help before dispatch. Once the order has shipped, the address usually cannot be changed.
Returns and refunds
What is the return window?
You can request a refund within 30 days of delivery. The item must be unused, clean, and in its original packaging.
Do I pay return shipping?
Yes, return shipping is the customer's responsibility unless the return is because of our error, such as the wrong item, a defective item, or an item damaged on arrival. Use tracked shipping and keep the tracking number.
Is there a restocking fee?
Yes. Standard orders have a $10 restocking fee deducted from the refund. Orders over $100 have a 10% restocking fee. Restocking fees do not apply when the return is due to our error.
What if my order arrives damaged, defective, or wrong?
Email info@stepspring.co within 7 days of delivery with your order number and clear photos of the item and packaging. After review, we will help with a refund or replacement.
How do I start a return?
Email info@stepspring.co with your order number, the reason for the return, and photos if anything arrived damaged or incorrect. Wait for return instructions before mailing anything back. Returns sent without approval may not be accepted.
How long do refunds take?
Once an approved return is received and inspected, eligible refunds are processed to the original payment method within 5-7 business days. Your bank or card provider may take additional time to post the refund.
